Elgin Street Book Fair and Silent Auction (and bake sale*)!

June 8 – 11th, 2017

Thurs & Fri: 3-9pm, Sat* 8am-4pm, Sun 10am-3pm

*Bake Sale on Saturday!

Parent Council fundraises over $15,000 towards music, drama, visual arts, and sports programs and helps pay for updated classroom technology. Our annual book fair and silent auction is the largest fundraiser for our children.  Show your kids your commitment to their education and school community by volunteering!  This fundraiser can only be a success with the help of many families.

Here’s how you can help!

Donate your old books, DVDs and games!

Donations are accepted May 1 -31, 2017 in Elgin School Lobby

Submit pre-sorted books in boxes labeled with the following to be tallied in the student book drive competition (see below for details):

  • Category (Kids, Teen, Adult fiction, Adult non-fiction)
  • Student name,
  • Teacher name and grade,
  • # of books

The event also features a silent auction. Items are generously donated by local businesses, elected officials, artists, and members of the Elgin Street Pubic School community (teachers, parents, etc.)

 

Elgin Student Book Drive

Donate books and win prizes for your class!

Classes compete to see which class can donate the most books. By reaching certain levels of book donations, each class can earn either freezies or jumbo freezies.

The class in each grade category that donates the most books per student wins a pizza party! (no magazines or computer books, please)

To be included in the book drive tally, books must be:

  • Pre-sorted into the following broad categories:
  • Kids, Teen, Adult fiction, Adult non-fiction
  • Submitted in boxes (preferably) or bags labelled with:
    • Category
    • Student name,
    • Teacher name and grade,
    • # of books

Books can be dropped off in Elgin School lobby from May 1 to 31.  Books cannot be accepted after May 31.

Parents can help add to their child’s class tally!

  • Each hour volunteered by a parent = 15 books added to their child’s book total
  • Each business/organization solicited for a silent auction item = 5 books
    • If that results in the donation of an item for the auction = 5 additional books
    • To be included in the tally, solicitations must be coordintated with Catherine Pacella in advance.
  • Volunteer book totals will be applied to each child in a family (not split between children)
